Through the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) assistance programs and other measures, DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III stated that the government is ready to serve more returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) displaced by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Restricting flights before to contain the spread of COVID-19, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Jim Sydiongco confirmed on June 26 that more airlines will be allowed to fly to bring home more OFWs, granting requests of government agencies to increase flights for repatriation.

Bello also mentioned the OFW Assistance Information System (OASIS) to assure that the agency could easily locate and track OFWs. Through OASIS, the agency could easily arrange for the returning OFWs their mandatory testing, hotel accommodation, and transport services.
